Volunteers co-lead fun and engaging activities that help students build positive social and emotional skills, support school success, and develop skills for community involvement. Past topics have included cooking, blogging, pottery, scrap-booking, film making, and girls’ empowerment. Classes run Monday through Thursday (one day per week commitment) for 1.5 hours in the morning or afternoon.
Qualifications: NO teaching skills needed! We want enthusiastic and patient volunteers with a strong desire to help all youth connect with their passion and achieve their potential. Special skills or experience with the class topic is helpful but not required. If you want to plan some projects or activities, you can have the opportunity to do so.
Benefits: This volunteer opportunity offers a short-term commitment, free parking, the chance to spend time with youth, and share your skills and knowledge. You may be able to practice your Spanish language skills! You will work with seasoned, professional staff and receive training on working with youth. This is a great opportunity to gain experience with youth and to utilize your skills.
