Dr. Hal Strough will be coming to Cooke Hall October 1st to give a presentation on Masters level programs for Athletic Training. The presentation will begin at 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. and will be held in Cooke 109.
Dr. Strough is the Chair of the Department of Athletic Training at the College of St. Scholastica. If you have an interest in pursuing Athletic Training as a career path, and want to apply to graduate programs in AT, then this is a presentation you should attend. Get the inside scoop on what it takes to apply for AT programs (pre-reqs, hands-on experience, recommendations for success). The International Student and Scholars Service is looking for cross cultural discussion group participants!
INTERNATIONAL and U.S. STUDENTS are invited to join our new cross-cultural
discussion groups. Group members will meet two hours per week to share
cross-cultural experiences, personal thoughts on various topics in a relaxed
small group atmosphere. Groups will meet on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
afternoons beginning mid-October through early December. Groups will have
a consistent meeting time and will be led by two leaders with group facilitation experience.

Learning Abroad Center Winter Break or Spring Break Volunteer Programs: Info Sessions
The Learning Abroad Center is hosting an information session on Thursday, September 19 from 3:00-4:30pm in 214 Heller Hall. Students can learn about volunteer opportunities in Senegal, Ecuador, and Guatemala. LAC staff and partner organizations will share information about programs during winter break in Senegal and spring break in Ecuador or Guatemala. Pizza and refreshments provided!
Spend part of your winter break in sunny, culturally rich Senegal. Explore the capital of Dakar and immerse yourself in the rural culture of Western Africa. Stay in a village while working on volunteer projects that will help to sustain those communities and learning.
Spend spring break 2014 in Ecuador volunteering and engaging with the local community. Explore the colonial capital of Quito, a cloud forest reserve, and the beautiful Andes mountains. Volunteer at a childcare center in a rural area where you will stay with a host family.
Explore the colonial city of Antigua, Guatemala during spring break 2014. This historic city will be the backdrop to your experience as you engage with local community members through volunteer activities, homestays, and Spanish tutoring. Volunteer projects include education, social work, and construction.

Freshman Seminars Abroad are a great opportunity for students to gain an international experience abroad their first year, develop a cohort of peers, get to know a faculty member, and start forming their academic and professional careers with an international lens early on. Students take a Freshman Seminar on-campus and go abroad over winter break (fall seminar) or spring break (spring seminars) with their professor and classmates!
