Do you like to plan events? Do you love the energy and atmosphere of sporting events? Would you like to oversee the details of a sporting event? If so, then this could be the career for you!
Sports Event Coordinators handle the logistics necessary when putting together a sporting event. Their main function is to oversee all the details that make the show a success. Some Sports Event Coordinators work directly with the facility. Others are employed by promoters. They may work in a variety of situations and facilities from arenas, auditoriums, stadiums, and coliseums to hotels and resorts. Events may include concerts, operas, ballets, symphonies, circuses, trade shows, conventions and sporting events. Individuals may be expected to handle the coordination of just sporting events or of all events.
Specific tasks of a Sports Event Coordinator include: determining the scope of the event, developing a plan of action for creating the event and managing the details, handle accommodations for those participating in the event, and communicating with the television production people if the event is televised.
A degree in CEHD in Sports Management would be a great major to prepare students for this career!
