College Possible is seeking a Campus Recruitment Associate!!

College Possible is a nationally-expanding nonprofit organization making college admission and success possible for low-income students through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support. Our after-school services include (1) academic support through ACT/SAT test preparation; (2) college application assistance; (3) financial aid consulting; (4) guidance in the college transition; and (5) support toward college degree completion. Since our founding in 2000, we have succeeded in helping 98 percent of our students earn admission to college!
College Possible sites are in Milwaukee, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Omaha. We will begin serving students in Portland in the 2013-14 school year. For the 2012-13 school year, we will serve nearly 12,000 students in 35 partner high schools and on over 200 campuses nationwide. I. Position Summary
The Campus Recruitment Associate works with the Twin Cities AmeriCorps Recruitment Lead to enhance College Possible’s profile on campus and attract talented, idealistic candidates to apply for our AmeriCorps and VISTA positions. Campus Recruitment Associates gain valuable professional skills in marketing, communications and event coordination as well as insight into the workings of a successful nonprofit organization. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested in applying to be a College Possible corps member.
II. Responsibilities
o Enthusiastically represent College Possible’s mission and values when recruiting applicants
o Coordinate a publicity campaign to enhance College Possible’s profile on campus, which may include posting recruitment materials; tabling in high-traffic areas; managing an e-mail campaign; and securing media coverage through campus outlets
o Identify, connect with and cultivate a network of talented, idealistic candidates on campus
o Plan and execute a series of recruitment events on campus such as information sessions and alumni panels
o Secure College Possible presentations at classes and meetings through outreach to faculty and student organizations
o Generate other campus recruitment strategies
III. Skills and Qualifications:
o Current Student at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus
o Strong commitment to College Possible’s mission and values
o Familiarity with academic departments, student groups, etc. on the University of MN campus
o Great organizational skills
o Commitment to social justice and strong interest in educational equity
o Demonstrated achievement in academics, leadership, and/or employment history
o High level of initiative and personal responsibility
IV. Compensation
The time commitment is 5 to 10 hours a week between late November and mid-March. Campus Recruitment Associates receive a stipend of $700 with the potential for a bonus if goals are met.
