POSITION SUMMARY
Work Direction Given by: Organizational Change Consultant and Organization Change and Effectiveness Manager
Time Commitment: 100-150 hours (flexible scheduling) during the period of October through December 2012

BENEFIT

This paid internship opportunity will allow an individual to gain experience and develop skills in conducting a needs assessment and gain experience gathering and synthesizing data in order to develop key themes, findings and strategies. The intern will work in an environment that encourages innovation, support, and respect and will contribute to a county-wide organizational change framework that has the potential to impact over 7,000 employees and numerous divisions that serve thousands of people.
QUALIFICATIONS
Intern is currently enrolled in a Masters-level University/College program related to Organizational Development, Industrial Psychology, Human Resource Management, or related discipline. Undergraduates will be considered if they have experience analyzing and synthesizing qualitative data.
SKILLS
Intern must demonstrate the follow skills in accomplishing the responsibilities:
1. Personal organization and time management; ability to work independently; follow through on specific assignments.
2. Personal motivation; demonstrate eagerness and enthusiasm for learning.
3. Ability to maintain confidence and respect individual viewpoints.
4. Effectively communication with individuals; ability to facilitate two-way communication.
5. Experience with analyzing and synthesizing qualitative data.
6. Competencies in Microsoft Word and ability to prepare quality written materials.
RESPONSIBLITIES
1. Participate in the development of a needs assessment to identify and understand current employee needs and strengths for approaches, tools, and training to manage and effectively lead organizational change.
2. Create materials and processes to conduct focus groups, interviews, and survey.
3. Conduct logistics for focus groups and interviews (set up times/rooms/materials/invitations).
4. Document findings from focus group participants; synthesis information from the focus groups, interviews, surveys or other relevant data to inform the development of strategies to address gaps and opportunities.
5. Assist in the development of themes, findings, and recommendations based on the gathered data.
6. Research best practices for organization change models and approaches that could address gaps identified in the needs assessment.
