The new iBooks app now includes textbooks and a host of new features including:
• More visuals and multi-media (diagrams, photos, video, audio)
• Highlight text with a swipe of the finger (no longer a double-tap then drag to select)
• Highlights and notes are added to a central repository
• Study Card feature creates flash cards from glossaries and your highlights and notes

iBooks textbooks are created with iBooks Author (software for the latest Mac operating system, not an iPad app) — now available as a free download on the Mac App Store.
